EIEF is pleased to host the “European Conference on Household Finance” jointly organized by the Center on Sustainable Architecture for Finance (SAFE) at Goethe University Frankfurt, the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF) and the Swedish House of Finance (SHoF), with additional support from the Sloan Foundation. The conference aims to present state-of-the-art empirical research and empirically motivated theoretical research on household financial behavior and on how this is influenced by other choices, government policies, and the overall economic environment. The workshop presents a proposal that aims to guarantee loans for the SME, by taking advantage of the European structural funds, therefore facilitating the refinancing of banks at the ECB and thus the supply of credit. 13th Doctoral Workshop in Economic Theory and Econometrics

This annual workshop, which started in 2001 as the Villa Mondragone Workshop in Economic Theory and Econometrics, is designed to stimulate interaction between senior economists and doctoral students working on both theoretical and empirical economic issues. It is expected that the students will be in the advanced stage of their dissertation research. The workshop is co-sponsored by three Italian research institutions - Bank of Italy, Collegio Carlo Alberto and EIEF.  Fourth Carlo Giannini Ph.D. Workshop in Econometrics

Organized by the Associazione Carlo Giannini (ACG) and hosted by EIEF, the meeting aims to bring together young researchers in applied and theoretical econometrics and introduce them to the Italian econometric profession. The selected researchers will present a paper in the meeting. Each paper will be discussed by a discussant. The discussants will be chosen by the Associazione Carlo Giannini board among leading econometric scholars in order to provide effective and useful feedbacks to the presenters. 2nd Rome Junior Conference on Macroeconomics
(aka Pizzanomics)

EIEF will host the “2nd Rome Junior Conference on Macroeconomics”, a.k.a. Pizzanomics. The aim is to bring together junior economists from around the world with a strong interest in Macroeconomists, and to generate a friendly environment with intensive interaction, not only during the presentations but also informally before and after.
The conference is organized by Guillermo Ordoñez (University of Pennsylvania), Facundo Piguillem (EIEF), and Nicholas Trachter (EIEF). It will consist in 10 presentations of 60 minutes each. 2nd EIEF-UNIBO Workshop on Industrial Organization

On 17-18 December 2012 EIEF will host the second edition of the Workshop on Industrial Organization. The event is a joint initiative of the Bologna Centre for Law and Economics (BCLE), the University of Bologna and the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF).

The workshop aims to strengthening the relationship between Italian economists working in Industrial Organization, both in Italy and abroad, by bringing them together to discuss new research in the field. To stimulate the interaction the program will consist of a small number of papers, which will be presented in plenary session and ample time will be left for discussion and informal interaction. Contributions in both theoretical and empirical IO are equally welcome; we particularly encourage the submission of work in progress. For further details, please see the program.

NBER-Oxford Saïd-CFS-EIEF Conference on Household Finance

The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), the Center for Financial Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt (CFS), the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford and EIEF organize a two-day conference on Household Finance. The objective of the conference is to bring together researchers from the U.S. and Europe who are working in the area of household finance.

The conference venue is the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford.

We define household finance broadly to include the many financial decisions made by households, including the financial functions of payments, saving and investing/portfolio-choice, borrowing/credit, and risk management. Households do not make their decisions in a vacuum, and so the field also encompasses the actions of businesses and government.

Workshop on “New Developments in Econometrics and Time Series”
10-11 September 2012

On 10-11 September 2012 EIEF will host a Workshop on “New Developments in Econometrics and Time Series” organized by the Collaborative Research Center 823 “Statistical modelling of nonlinear dynamic processes” and supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and EIEF.

The aim of this conference is to bring together leaders in econometrics and time series to share, talk, exchange ideas, and provide a platform for future collaborations. Some of the topics that are covered by the meeting are: robust methods, quantile, volatility processes, factor models, dependence, estimation of covariance matrices.

Rome Junior Conference on Macroeconomics

On 18-20 June 2012 the EIEF is organizing and hosting the first “Rome Junior Conference on Macroeconomics”. The aim is to bring together junior economists from around the world with a strong interest in Macroeconomists, and to generate a friendly environment with intensive interaction, not only during the presentations but also informally before and after.
The conference will consist of no more than 11 invited papers, with long presentations (around 70 minutes) with a discussant (around 20 minutes). Conference on “Economics of Interactions and Culture”

On 27–28 April 2012 EIEF will host a Conference on “Economics of Interactions and Culture”, co-organized with ERC, University of Rome “La Sapienza” and CEPR. The aim of the Conference is to present and discuss recent research on cultural traits, beliefs and social norms and how they affect the functioning of institutions and legal systems.
